Titanfall 2 Fails to Outsell Original Titanfall Game

Sales of Titanfall 2 haven’t been quite where Respawn Entertainment would have wanted them to be, as the game has failed to outsell the original Titanfall game.

Although we don’t have any exact figures yet, Chart-Track have stated that despite being released on PlayStation 4, Titanfall 2 sales have not matched those of Titanfall, which launched back in 2014 on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.

Chart-Track only record physical sales, however, although the digital sales for Titanfall 2 are not expected to make it more successful than its predecessor at launch.

Despite being well received by the gaming press and gamers in general, it appears that Titanfall 2 has suffered as a result of releasing between two of this year’s biggest first-person shooters, Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Perhaps if the game had been released a few weeks earlier or later, it would have sold better.

In the UK charts, Titanfall 2 enters at No. 4 this week but is beaten by Battlefield 1 and FIFA 17. EA will be disappointed though that the Skyrim Special Edition surpassed Titanfall 2 for sales as it takes second spot, behind Battlefield 1, despite being a re-release of a game that was originally released in 2011.

Here’s this week’s top 10:

  1. Battlefield 1
  2. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim- Special Edition
  3. FIFA 17
  4. Titanfall 2
  5. Farming Simulator 17
  6. Mafia III
  7. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
  8. Gears of War 4
  9. Grand Theft Auto V
  10. Forza Horizon 3
