Borderlands 3 Release Date Accidentally Posted on Twitter

Borderlands 3 was officially announced last week, although Gearbox did not reveal a release date for the upcoming game.

However, it looks like the game’s official Twitter account may have accidentally posted the release date for Borderlands 3. A tweet was put out, that has since been deleted, stating: “Mayhem is coming September 13”.

The tweet also encouraged gamers to pre-order the game in order to receive an exclusive Gold Weapons Skins Pack.

As you would expect, the tweet was very quickly deleted by Gearbox and can no longer be viewed. Thankfully, some Twitter users were quick enough to grab a screenshot of the since-deleted tweet.

Gearbox is yet to officially comment regarding the tweet, so we don’t know for sure whether or not September 13th is the official release date or if it was a mistake. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford did reveal last week though that the studio would be announcing the release date for Borderlands 3 on April 3rd.

However, given that the tweet was deleted so quickly, plus the fact that there would seem to be no reason for them to tweet such a thing with an incorrect release date, it seems plausible that Borderlands 3 will be releasing on September 13th, 2019. It’s also a Friday, which is a typical day for games to release. Borderlands and Borderlands 2 also both came out around the same time of year.

If you can’t wait until September to grab Borderlands 3, you can pick up the Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition later this week, which releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
