WHSmith to Sell Video Games Again as GAME Agree Deal to Open Concessions in Store

UK video game retailer GAME have announced that they will be opening a small number of concessions in selected WHSmith stores.

WHSmith stopped selling video games in their UK stores back in 2010 but are set to sell them once again after a six year hiatus. The concessions will be rolled out to a small number of WHSmith stores this year for what is described as a trial, suggesting that GAME will roll out their stock to more stores further down the line if the trial is a success.

“GAME Retail is rolling out a small number of concessions as part of an ongoing trial across WHSmith stores in 2016,” GAME said. “Alongside our 300 High Street stores it means easier access to top video games, accessories and merchandise for our community of gamers nationwide.”

This isn’t the first time that GAME has run concessions in other retailer’s stores though, with the company previously having stands in Debenhams and Comet a few years ago. However, when GAME ran into financial issues back in 2012, the number of GAME stores and concessions were severely cut.

The retailer has since bounced back and now has over 300 stores across the UK.
