Quantum Break won’t be releasing on Steam

Quantum Break will not be releasing on Steam when the game launches in April as Microsoft have decided to make it a Windows Store exclusive on Windows 10, the company has announced.

Last week it was revealed that Quantum Break would be releasing on PC as well Xbox One, however it appears that Microsoft are keen to keep the game on its own platform rather than selling it through a third-party such as Steam, angering some gamers in the process.

However reaction to the announcement has been mixed with some gamers unhappy at having to purchase the game through the Windows Store while others are outright refusing to purchase the game, with those who have threatening to cancel their pre-orders.

“Quantum Break on Windows 10 is a Windows Store exclusive,” stated Xbox Executive Aaron Greenberg when speaking on Major Nelson’s latest Podcast.

Speaking about the mixed reaction, Greenberg added, “Sometimes we’re innovating, sometimes we’re experimenting, sometimes we’re charting new ground on different things, we always want to hear people’s feedback, we’re always listening. While they might not always agree with 100 per cent of everything we do, we love the feedback.”

“We want to do different things and try different things and say, ‘Hey, what do you think of this, what do you think of that?’ We do listen. Good and bad, we appreciate [the feedback].”

It’s certainly an interesting decision by Microsoft to restrict Quantum Break to Windows 10 given the popularity of Steam and the fact that many gamers are still yet to upgrade to Windows 10.

Quantum Break releases on April 15 on PC and Xbox One.
