Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Officially Announced with New Trailer

It’s about time!!!

After recent leaked screenshots of a new Crash Bandicoot game, we finally have an official release! Crash Bandicoot 4 : It’s About Time has been announced along with a fresh new trailer. From the looks of things, the old coot has gone back to his platforming roots with regards to gameplay, and this is definitely the sequel we’ve all been waiting for.

Looking fresh for an old coot.

It’s About Time is the first new and original Crash game in over 10 years and a direct sequel to Crash Bandicoot 3 : Warped, which was released way back in 1998. In the game you play as 3 of its main characters: Crash, Coco and Dr. Neo Cortex (you can switch between Crash and Coco at any point in-game), while Cortex is only available to play on certain levels. And while Crash and Coco both share the same skills, Cortex has his own special moves.

Show me the moves!

Crash also has some new moves: He can now wall run, grind rails and swing on ropes. There is also the addition of the 4 Quantum masks. Although only two of the new masks have been revealed, it’s clear that they will give you some awesome new skills.

The new masks

Ika-Ika, also know as the gravity mask and also Kupuna-Wa, known as the time mask. These masks are only placed at specific parts in the levels, so they’re ready when you need them.

The new addition to the Bandicoot series takes some inspiration from his very first outing, released back in 1996, with a “dimension map” to get you between levels rather than the older style hubs from Cortex Strikes Back and Warped. And as is clearly obvious, the story is about time and the multiverse. Cortex, N. Tropy and Uka-Uka found a way to escape the planet that they were trapped on at the end of Warped.

Doing so has ripped a hole in time and space itself, and it’s now up to both Crash and Coco to save the day by reuniting the aforementioned Quantum masks.

Crash Bandicoot 4 : It’s About Time is set to release on October 2nd of this year on both PS4 and Xbox One.

What do you think of the trailer? Let us know in the comments.
