Pokkén Tournament to release in March

Pokkén Tournament, the collaborative title between Bandai Namco and Pokémon, is set to release on March 18 of this year. The game launches as an exclusive title for the Wii U at  a suggested retail price of $59.99/£42. Those who buy the first production run version of the game will receive a Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card, which can be tapped to the Wii U GamePad controller to unlock Shadow Mewtwo as a playable character in the game.

Pokkén Tournament combines the gameplay elements of the Tekken series with the characters of the Pokémon franchise. The game has already released in Japan in the form of arcade machines, but has been terribly unpopular, forcing many arcade places to get rid of the machines. Hopefully the Wii U version, which will include more characters and with lots more modes, will do better than the ill-fated arcade machines.

Also revealed this month were the addition of at least 4 characters. The announced Pokémon were: Braixen, Chandelure, Garchomp, and the original Mewtwo(apart from the Shadow Mewtwo). Characters have been slowly being announced but in my opinion, the roster is still pretty weak. Hopefully more characters will be announced quick before the game launches.

Will you be picking up Pokkén Tournament on launch date? Which Pokémon do you want added to the game. Let us know in the comments.
