Activision has said that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was the best-selling game of 2015 after the publisher announced that overall sales of the Call of Duty franchise had surpassed 250 million units.
Although no specific sales figures were provided for Black Ops 3, its sales did help boost the franchise over the 250 million units sold mark. Not only that, but according to NPD, 2015 marked the seventh year in a row that a Call of Duty game has been the top-selling franchise of the year, going all the way back to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
“Thanks to the community’s continued support, Black Ops 3 was the top-selling game of 2015 worldwide”, Activision said on its blog.
The first piece of DLC for Black Ops 3, Awakening, will be making its way onto PS4 first on February 2 and will introduce four new multiplayer maps: Gauntlet, Rise, Skyjacked and a remake of Black Ops 2 map Hijacked, along with adding a new chapter for the zombie mode, Der Eisdenrache.
