PlayStation have announced today via the PlayStation Blog that the cloud streaming monthly subscription service PlayStation Now will be receiving a permanent price drop and that four more PlayStation 4 titles will be added for streaming and download today.
In the lengthy PlayStation Blog post, Sony Interactive Entertainment America social media director Sid Shuman writes:
Starting today, PS Now will be offered at a more compelling price that is comparable to other entertainment streaming services on the market. Current customers will see this new pricing reflected in their next billing cycle. The new prices will be:
EU: €9.99 – monthly / €24.99 – quarterly / €59.99 – yearly (from €14.99/ (N/A)/ €99.99)
UK: £8.99 – monthly / £22.99 – quarterly / £49.99 – yearly (from £12.99 / (N/A) / £84.99)
The blog post also announces that, starting today, Grand Theft Auto V, God of War, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and inFAMOUS: Second Son will be joining the service for both streaming and downloading. These titles join a library of over 100 PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 games. As stated in the blog post, this price cut is intended to compete with Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass, which is available at a similar subscription fee and is available on both Xbox One and PC. The blog post also states that 70% of PlayStation 4 owners use the PlayStation Now service.
PlayStation Now launched in 2015 and is now available in 19 countries around the world. The service offers cloud-based streaming for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 titles with the option to stream or download PlayStation 4 titles.
