One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 Adds Wano Country with an Original Story

Koei Tecmo and Bandai Namco revealed today in the run-up to Tokyo Game Show that the long anticipated musou title One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 will include an original story and be set in the land of Wano.

While the rest of the game will stick to the series’ tradition of following Eiichiro Oda’s long running shounen manga, both anime and manga fans will know that currently both versions sit squarely in the middle of the Wano Country arc, making it nearly impossible for Koei Tecmo to adapt in time for Pirate Warriors 4’s release. Instead, the team has decided to pen a brand new original story set in Wano, revealed in a brand new trailer showcasing the recently announced playable character Carrot, while also giving us glimpses of Zoro and Luffy in action, all before revealing Momonosuke and Kaido’s involvement in the story. It will be interesting to see if this take on Wano will also involve an original take on Luffy versus Kaido, but only time will tell.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 sets sail worldwide in 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
