Update: Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King has been officially announced, the collection will include the SEGA Mega Drive, Game Boy and Super Game Boy versions of both titles, only The Lion King will also have it’s Super Nintendo version, however the ‘final cut’ of Aladdin alongside a 1993 ‘trade show demo’ version of it will also be included.
The Disney Classic Games Aladdin and The Lion King collection will also include save states, an instant rewind feature and brand new behind-the-scenes interviews and digital art galleries and will launch in Fall 2019.

While Disney’s live-action remakes of The Lion King and Aladdin were met with lukewarm reactions, fans of the ’90s SEGA Mega Drive and Super Nintendo video game adaptations will be happy to know that the video games are getting their very own remastered collection.
Announced at GameStop Conference today, the classic 2D platformers were confirmed for release as part of a bundle for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The collection will include both the SNES and SEGA Mega Drive versions of both titles, each with their original soundtracks available. This is great considering the different versions of both titles have very little in common.
As of right now, it is unconfirmed who the current developer of this collection is as Capcom developed the Super Nintendo version of Aladdin, while Virgin Interactive developed the SEGA Mega Drive version, as well as both versions of The Lion King video game, although one can assume that Disney retains the rights to all of the games.
The Aladdin and The Lion King HD remasters will release in October 2019, with pre-orders opening on GameStop’s website on August 28th.
