Stars Wars: Battlefront has sold over 12 million copies, analysts say

According to analysts from Wedbush Securities and Pacific Crest Securities, EA’s online only shooter, Star Wars: Battlefront, has sold over 12 million copies between November and December.

Michael Pachter, an analyst for Wedbush Securities, put sales of Battlefront at 6 million copies sold for both the months of November and December, meaning that EA would have sold an impressive 12 million copies overall. Pachter says that would have generated revenue for EA in the region of $660 million, based on the average retail price of $55.

Pacific Crest Securities analyst Evan Wilson however believes that sales of Battlefront may be as high as 13 million since the game released, although he states that most of those sales may have been done before the cinema release of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens and at a discounted price.

The buzz which has been created around the Star Wars franchise, thanks in no small part to the $350 million marketing budget for The Force Awakens, has seen sales of all things Star Wars rocket, with Battlefront not being the only game to profit. A number of mobile games wearing the Star Wars games are reported to have earned considerable amounts of income following the release of The Force Awakens, with content manager of Sensor Tower’s stone intelligence platform Randy Nelson stating that EA’s Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes generated $186,000, Konami’s Star Wars: Force Collection brought in $56,000 while Disney’s Star Wars: Commander – Worlds in Conflict earned $43,000.
