PUBG Creator Brendan Greene Doesn’t Intend on Making PUBG 2

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds creator Brendan Greene has revealed that he has no intentions of making a sequel to the hugely popular battle royale game, adding that he wants to “explore other things.”

Last month, Greene come out and announced that he was working on a new game, although he added that it was too early in its development to share any details about the project other than the fact that it definitely was not PUBG 2.

In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Brendan Greene expanded on why he decided to step away from PUGB and stated that it was time for him to try something else and that he no longer has an interest in working on battle royale-themed games where the main aim is to kill other players. Instead, he feels that now is the right time to look into other ideas and projects that he and his team can work on.

“The last man standing concept is great, but I’ve done that,” Greene said.

“I don’t really intend to make PUBG 2. I’ve done battle royale, it’s time to try something else. There are ideas about how we connect to people and how we provide the different experiences I have.”

Whatever his next game will be, it almost certainly won’t involve being as competitive as PUBG, and there’s a good chance that killing other players won’t be central to the game’s aim or theme as Greene added that he has “done the killing thing.”

“I’ve done the killing thing. It’s fun. I think I’ve provided others with a good way of killing each other. But I want to explore some other things.”
