In the run up to the launch of Devil May Cry 5, Capcom hinted that a release of the game on Nintendo Switch could be possible in the future as it was something that they confirmed they would love to make happen.
It looks like Capcom is still keen on releasing the game on Nintendo Switch, although they have now stated that any release would depend on how well Dragon’s Dogma sells on the Switch.
In an interview with German magazine M! (thanks to NintendoLife for the translation), director Hideaki Itsuno and producer Matt Walker revealed that Capcom is considering releasing Devil May Cry 5 on the Nintendo Switch; however, they are waiting to see how Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen performs before they make a final decision.
“If Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen sells well on Switch, then we might consider porting DMC 5,” they said.
“We started the development of DMC 5, while we didn’t have the dev-kits [for] the Switch. Because of that, we concentrated on the PS4, Xbox One and PC version.”
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is set to release on the Switch on April 23rd. The game originally launched for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2012 before being re-released for the current generation of consoles in 2017. There was also a PC version too.
If you can’t wait for the Nintendo Switch port of Devil May Cry 5, you can grab it right now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
