Gamers who have been looking forward to the release of Overkill’s The Walking Dead on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are set to be disappointed as the game has been postponed indefinitely on consoles.
Yesterday, rumours began to emerge that the game had actually been canceled altogether after PS4 owners began to share emails they had received from Sony stating that pre-orders of the game were to be refunded.
In response to these rumours, 505 Games released a statement on Twitter clarifying that Overkill’s The Walking Dead had not been canceled, only postponed as they continue to work on development.
We just wanted to clear the position on the OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead on console and confirm that the game has not been cancelled, purely postponed whilst development is on-going. We will share further news as soon as possible.

505 Games have not revealed when we can expect to see the game come to consoles, the game having been delayed several times already. While they insist that the game will be released at some point, the future of the game on consoles has surely been called into question given how poorly received it has been on PC.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead released on PC in November 2018, and at the time of writing, has a mixed rating on Steam with only 51% of reviews being positive. One of the most common complaints by gamers seems to be the declining player base, which is in the low hundreds at best.
