Scalebound, the Xbox One exclusive game that was infamously scrapped by Microsoft in 2017, could possibly be resurrected as a Nintendo Switch exclusive game, a report by Nintendo Insider has suggested.
There have been rumours circulating that Nintendo has been looking at reviving a game that was thought to be dead. As expected, several games have been suggested as being this title, but if the report is to be believed, this game could in fact be Platinum Games’ Scalebound, and it would be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
Alex Seedhouse from Nintendo Insider wrote, “I have confidence in my sources to report that it is my understanding that Scalebound has been resurrected as a project to be released as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.”
He went on to add though that he is unsure whether or not development has been started from scratch or if it has been continued from where it left off when Microsoft decided to cancel the game, albeit in a scaled-back format due to being released on the Switch instead of the Xbox One.
At this stage, this rumour should be taken with a pinch of salt until we have an official announcement, but it certainly seems plausible and has credibility behind it. If this does turn out to be true, it would send a big message to the gaming industry that Nintendo does mean business. If Scalebound does make its way onto the Nintendo Switch, it will no doubt pave the way for even more third-party games to be released on the platform.
