Rumour: New Super Mario Bros. U Heading to Nintendo Switch?

New Super Mario Bros. U could be getting a release on the Nintendo Switch in the near future, if rumours currently doing the rounds are to be believed.

According to Comic Book, rumours surrounding a Nintendo Switch release of New Super Mario Bros. U started circulating earlier this year when sources who have connections with Nintendo of Europe suggested that a Nintendo Switch port for the game was in development. These sources have previously provided accurate information about other titles, such as Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.

There were then additional rumours that stated the game would be revealed at E3 2018, and although this didn’t happen, it is still believed that there’s a high likelihood that New Super Mario Bros. U will be releasing on the Switch. Not only because of the rumours but also as a result of comments made by former Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima. In July he stated that Nintendo still had more games to reveal for their 2018 fall line-up, which were not announced at E3.

Comic Book also adds that they’ve received multiple tips that suggest the Nintendo Switch version of New Super Mario Bros. U will include the New Super Luigi U add-on. The DLC did get a standalone physical release, although Nintendo started bundling the main game with the New Super Luigi U add-on a bit later on. Other reports also hint that the new release would feature new content; however, it’s not yet known what exactly this new content could look like.

Nintendo does have a track record of releasing Wii U games onto the Nintendo Switch, though with games such as Mario Kart 8 and Captain Toad’s Treasure Tracker making the transition from Wii U to Switch. Hopefully, New Super Mario Bros. U will be joining them.
