New Sniper: Ghost Warrior Game Announced, Releasing in 2019

Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts, the next instalment in the Sniper: Ghost Warrior series, has been announced by CI Games and will be releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2019.

As its name suggests, Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts introduces a brand new contracts system that will see players complete “tense mission-based scenarios” based on these contracts. The game is set in Siberia and will have players taking out targets and completing objectives in treacherous snowy conditions. Upon completing a contract, players will receive a fixed payment, with bonuses being paid for completing secondary objectives.

The game will also see the series return to its more traditional routes by ditching the open-world environment introduced in last year’s Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3. CI Games have decided to focus on providing open-ended mission design rather than a huge sandbox open-world, which the developers themselves have since described as being too ambitious.

While the game focuses on its single-player campaign, Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts will also support a number of multiplayer modes.

“We were too ambitious in terms of the scope of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, but we’ve learned from our missteps,” CI Games boss Marek Tymiński stated.

He continued, “Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts will be more focused on emergent gameplay with an open-ended mission design that the team feels strong about, but it will not be set in an open world. It is going to be a more tactical, more condensed experience and the game will offer plenty of replayability, both on the single-player campaign and on the multiplayer modes.”
