Tropico 6 Release Date Pushed Back to 2019

Kalypso Media has announced that the next instalment in the Tropico series, Tropico 6, will now release in 2019 instead of this year as had been planned.

Tropico 6 was first announced back in June 2017 and was set to release sometime in 2018. However, the game’s release has now been pushed back to January 2019 to give the developers extra time to polish the game as they aim to “deliver the most complete and balanced experience ever seen in a Tropico game.”

However, they did add that there will be a closed Steam beta which will be available this autumn, although stopped short of giving details on how fans of the series can take part. More details will be made available soon.

Tropico 6 is said to be the biggest and greatest Tropico game ever and will use the Unreal engine for the first time in the series’ history. By using the Unreal engine, the developers have been able to make Tropico look better than ever before, whether you’re zoomed right out or watching individual citizens close up.

Election speeches also make a return in Tropico 6, and there is a new research system allowing El Presidente to focus on the “political aspects of being the world’s greatest dictator.” Tropico 6 will also feature co-operative and competitive multiplayer.

Tropico 6 launches on PC, Mac and Linux in January 2019, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game set to launch in summer 2019.
