Need for Speed reboot will need an internet connection to play

Need for Speed will require an internet connection in order to play when it launches later this year on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, the Need for Speed’s official twitter account has confirmed.

When asked on Twitter by a fan to not make the same mistakes that Microsoft did when they originally announced the Xbox One as an always connected device, the reply probably wasn’t what he was hoping for. However EA state that the benefits are nice and that there is more variety and a more rewarding experience to gamers by playing with friends.

Not too many details have been revealed as of yet about the Need for Speed reboot so it is unclear whether or not the game will game be made into an MMO style game similar to that of The Crew or Driveclub or whether something else is planned. The games description in a listing on the Xbox Store, which has since been taken down, revealed that there are five ways to win: Speed, Style, Build, Crew, and Outlaw, all of which point to an online experience planned for the reboot.
