Nintendo’s E3 Direct was largely focused on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, alongside a handful of other titles. Fans of the beloved Metroid series were understandably concerned of the Metroid Prime 4 absence from this year’s E3 and question if anything has happened to the game’s development that Nintendo have been notably quiet about for some time.
Rest assured, Metroid fans, “Metroid Prime 4 is in development, progressing well,” according to Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime, who spoke to IGN. He went on to say that last year’s Metroid announcement is a somewhat mending of the rules for traditional Nintendo E3 directs, focusing on titles coming in the near future.
“There are times where we’ll bend that strategy for unique situations, like Metroid Prime 4 last year, but mostly we want to focus on the here and now. We don’t believe it’s in the fans’ best interests to tease them year after year after year about a piece of content. We want to say here it is, here’s when it’s coming out, and get ready for it.”
