The BBC Three will be broadcasting live coverage of the League of Legends World Championships for the first time.
In recent years, eSports has grown rapidly in popularity and can attract hundreds of thousands, if not millions of viewers and the BBC’s decision to show the World Championships marks an important landmark for eSports as it looks to break into the mainstream media.
The League of Legends World Championships which are being held at Wembley Area this year, will be streamed online via the BBC Website and will use the BBC Three and BBC Sport technology which has been used to broadcast live sporting events as well as Glastonbury.
Coverage of the World Championships will be hosted by Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin who be presenting alongside Julia Hardy and will begin on Thursday October 15th.
