Yakuza Remake ‘Yakuza Kiwami’ Comes West This August

The Dragon of Dojima, Kazuma Kiryu, the long-standing protagonist from Sega’s Yakuza series, makes yet another appearance on PlayStation 4 with the remake of the original game finally coming to the west.

Titled Yakuza Kiwami, this is the game which started it all. Kazuma is wrongly convicted of the murder of a family patriarch and is sent to prison. While in prison, his clan dismisses him from his family and a fortune goes missing from the clan treasury. Kazuma’s childhood sweetheart is also nowhere to be seen. Kazuma must regain his respect and prove his innocence whilst hunting for his love and recovering the missing money.

Yakuza Kiwami will add 30 minutes of brand new cutscenes which help connect the dots with the more recent release, Yakuza 0, and add more side-quests, combat options and dialogue, making Kiwami a much bigger game than the PS2 original.

Kiwami also adds the’Majima Everywhere’ mechanic in which Goro Majima, the eye patch-wearing nut job, will appear at times and challenge Kazuma, keeping players on their toes.

The game is also rebuilt from the ground up with new high definition graphics at 1080p/60fps natively.

If you missed out on Yakuza the first time round, then Kiwami is the perfect place to start.

Yakuza Kiwami is scheduled for release on 29th August 2017 on PS4 systems.
