Physical Sales of Rocket League Surpass 1 million

Psyonix has announced that over 1 million physical copies of its hit game, Rocket League, have been sold across PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Rocket League first released digitally in 2015 but only got a physical release last year thanks to 505 Games who published the boxed version of the game. Since its release, Rocket League has become a huge success, with digital sales dwarfing the game’s physical sales; however, the fact that 1 million boxed copies have been sold at retailers goes to show how popular Psyonix’s car football game is.

Psyonix told GamesIndustry.biz that some of the physical copies were purchased by fans who already owned a digital copy of the game and wanted a boxed version, but the studio stated that the vast majority of copies were sold to “new gamers”.

Digitally, over 9.5 million copies of Rocket League have been sold through Steam, PSN and Xbox Live since 2015.

On Steam alone Rocket League has a positive rating of 94% based on over 106,000 reviews. That’s rather impressive, to say the least.
