Quantum Break Developer Remedy Will Once Again Be Releasing a Game on PlayStation 4

Quantum Break and Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment have revealed that they will be releasing their next game on PlayStation 4, a move which will see the studio return to Sony’s platform after more than 14 years away.

In a blog post released on their website, Remedy stated that their upcoming engine, Northlight, will be compatible with PlayStation 4, and as a result, the Finnish studio are setting their sights on making their next game a multi-platform release. The studio is currently working on a game project code-named P7.

The studio’s last game to release on Sony’s platform was Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, which released on PlayStation 2 back in 2003. Since then, all of Remedy’s games have been released exclusively on Microsoft’s platform and PC.

In addition to announcing that they are making their engine PlayStation compatible, Remedy Entertainment also posted their financial results for the fiscal year 2016, which saw the studio generate revenue of €16.4 million, a year-on-year revenue growth of 19.4% and an operating profit of €3.9 million. The release of Quantum Break on Xbox One and PC last year contributed heavily to the studio’s financial success.

Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said, “Over 20 years on the top of the global gaming industry is a great milestone achieved only by few other independent game companies. Our new board members bring solid experience from both gaming and financial industries and help us in executing Remedy’s growth strategy and to succeed also in the future.”
