We knew that sales of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
According to VGChartz, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare only managed to sell 1.8 million copies on PS4, Xbox One, and PC during its launch week in the US. These figures only account for physical copies, although digital copies aren’t expected to make much difference to the overall numbers. Call of Duty: Black Ops III for comparison, which launched last year, sold over 3 million copies during its first week.
The sales of Infinite Warfare make for extremely disappointing reading for Activision when you compare them to sales of Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 which were released during the peak of Call of Duty’s popularity. Both Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 sold around 10 million copies each during their launch weeks worldwide. It looks unlikely that when worldwide sales of Infinite Warfare are included that it will come anywhere close to those figures, with the US being one of the biggest markets for Call of Duty.
When it comes to how many copies of Infinite Warfare were sold on each platform, PS4 led the way with 830,989 copies with Xbox One not far behind with 781,551. Physical PC sales of Infinite Warfare for Steam were just a little over 200,000.
The inclusion of Modern Warfare Remastered was thought to have helped push sales of Infinite Warfare, although it doesn’t like this was the case judging by the sales figures. We don’t yet know how many of those sales mentioned above are for the standard edition of the game or for the Legacy Edition which included Modern Warfare Remastered.
Despite the disappointing launch week sales for Activision, there’s a chance that sales will continue to be made over the coming months as the game falls in price, with many gamers waiting for a price drop to grab the game along with Modern Warfare Remastered. Infinite Warfare
