Daily player count for Ubisoft’s The Division
The Division broke sales records for Ubisoft when it launched in March; however, after several weeks the player count took a nosedive with gamers becoming bored of the game’s lack of end-game content and repetitive gameplay. Since then Ubisoft has been hard at work preparing the game for the Survival expansion, and the latest update has proved to be hugely successful in getting players to jump back into The Division months after they first put the game down.
Speaking about Ubisoft’s decision to fix everything and get the game in a much better position before they launch the additional content planned for The Division, Ubisoft’s VP of live operations Anne Blonde explained, “Some players left the game earlier than we thought, then we had to make a tough call…do we stop everything for a while, settle down, fix everything, and then once the game is where it should be, then we start providing more content?”
“And that is what we did [and] the community was super happy about it.”
Now that Ubisoft has appeared to have gotten The Division’s player-base back to a very healthy and respectable level, the key will be keeping hold of them. The signs so far are good though, with the Survival expansion releasing to positive reviews.
Along with being committed to The Division, the game’s upturn in fortunes could also have been influenced by Black Friday with The Division
