EA Will Bring “One of Their Bigger Games” to Nintendo Switch

One of the major downfalls of the Nintendo Wii U was its lack of third-party games. There just weren’t enough games to tempt gamers over to the Wii U. It was a costly lesson for Nintendo to learn, but it looks like a mistake they are keen on not repeating.

When Nintendo revealed the Switch, they announced that EA will be supporting the console with one or two games initially. That in itself is great news for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo fans; however, that’s just got a little bit better as it looks like one of the games will be one of EA’s biggest.

Speaking at the UBS Global Technology Conference, EA Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen revealed that the company was keen on getting in involved with the Nintendo Switch and that they had plans to release some games on the Switch. EA aren’t going to be releasing just any game onto the NX though, as Jorgensen stated that it would be one of EA’s bigger games.

“In terms of Nintendo, in their announcement they announced that we’ll be supporting with a game or two on that new platform. We haven’t yet announced what game, but you should assume that it’s one of our bigger games we’ve been involved with,” said Jorgensen.

Jorgensen will be keeping a close eye on the Nintendo Switch, however, to see how interested people actually are in the device which could suggest that EA are deploying a wait and see approach with regards to releasing regular titles onto the platform. Still, they’re said to be excited for Nintendo and are hopeful that it succeeds.

“We’re excited for Nintendo, it’s an interesting device, but I can’t yet predict how broad it’s going to be, and will people be interested in a portable device alongside their regular portable device that they have.”

We have no idea yet what game EA will bring to the Nintendo Switch, although if we had to guess we’d take a punt on it being Mass Effect: Andromeda. If not, then Battlefield 1 or Titanfall 2 perhaps? It would depend on whether or not EA release the game when the Switch launches, or if we’ll see EA releasing the game further down the line. The FIFA series could also be a good shout, although EA didn’t do a very good job of supporting the game on the PlayStation Vita, the last portable console that EA released games on.
