UK retailer GAME are charging people to try Sony’s PlayStation VR in store, and as expected it’s not going down too well with gamers with some describing the move as exploitative.

In order to give the PlayStation VR a go at GAME, you need to book a time and a date at your local store, except there’s a catch. Whereas normally you can go into a GAME store and have a go on the latest consoles and games that are on display for free, GAME are now charging a fee to try the PS VR demo.
Slots are available for 10, 20, or 30 minute sessions and are conducted by a GAME staff member who will show you how to use the headset and help assist you throughout your demo.
A brief 10 minute demonstration will cost you £5 while a 20 minute demonstration will cost you £10. If you want a longer look at what PlayStation VR has to offer, a 30 minute session is available for £15.
If after your demo you decide to purchase PlayStation VR straight away, the fee you paid for the demonstration will be knocked off the deposit, although you have to place your order right then and there. However, if you have already put down a deposit for the headset and can provide proof of doing so, GAME will give you a free 30 minute demo if you haven’t already had one.
