FIFA 17 Breaks Series’ Week One Sales Record

FIFA 17 has set a new record for the franchise when it comes to week one sales making it the best selling FIFA game during its first week of release. The record was previously held by FIFA 13.

Week one sales of FIFA 17 are reported to be up by nearly 18% on last year’s entry, FIFA 16. As a result, FIFA 17 has rocketed to the top of the UK gaming charts, surpassing Forza Horizon 3 which is currently the most played game on Xbox One. FIFA‘s main competitor, PES 2017, falls from second place to sixth, however.

When it comes to platform share, the PlayStation 4 accounts for just over 53% of all week one sales of FIFA 17 with the Xbox One accounting for 41%. Sony will be pleased to have sold more copies of FIFA 17 on their platform, despite Microsoft bundling the game with their recently launched Xbox One S console. PC sales of FIFA 17 dwarf in comparison, however, and account for less than 6% of total sales.
