PlayStation 4 Neo Will Retail at $399 According to Reports

There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding the PlayStation 4 Neo, which is yet to be officially announced by Sony. One of the main talking points about Sony’s more powerful console has been the price, however, according to a tweet from a journalist from the Wall Street Journal, the PS4 Neo may be a lot more affordable than a lot of people had initially thought.

Apparently, the PlayStation 4 Neo will retail at just $399 when it releases, with the PlayStation 4 Slim said to retail at $100 less at just $299.

In the tweet, Takashi Michizuki references Atul Goyal as his source who is an analyst at investment firm Jefferies. Goyal has commented on Sony’s financial performance before and spoke to Bloomberg earlier this month about Sony’s first-quarter earnings. So as sources go, Atul Goyal would appear to be a reliable source of information.

If the rumoured pricing of the PlayStation 4 Neo turns out to be true, it could prove to be a masterstroke by Sony who will undoubtedly see a a sales boost as a result of the pricing model.

However, the low pricing point will also have some gamers concerned as to how much of an improvement the PlayStation 4 Neo is over the current PS4 and PS4 Slim models, especially for those who aren’t interested in 4K gaming which has been talked about as being one of the new features the Neo will bring to the table.

For those who are looking at taking up 4K gaming though, a retail price of $399 will certainly represent good value for money.

Sony are set to officially reveal the PS4 Neo and PS4 Slim next week in New York, so expect more details about the console then, as well as some information about the Neo’s price and release date.
