PS4 Gamers in US and Canada to Get PlayStation Plus Price Increase

The cost of a PlayStation Plus subscription for gamers in the US and Canada is set to get more expensive as Sony has announced that it plans to increase the price on September 22nd.

Annual and three month subscription to PlayStation Plus will increase in both regions, however, a monthly subscription will only go up in price in Canada and will rise to $11.99 CAD, although the price will remain the same in the US at $9.99.

In the US and Canada, an annual subscription to the service will go up from $49.99 USD/$49.99 CAD to $59.99 USD and $69.99 CAD respectively. A three month subscription will increase from its current price to $24.99 USD for US gamers and $29.99 CAD for those in Canada.

The new price increases will take effect on September 22nd, with gamers seeing the new prices once their current subscription expires.

“PlayStation Plus strives to enrich your PlayStation experience through a world-class service built for our fans,” Sony said. “This marks the first time that PS Plus membership prices will increase in the U.S. and Canada since the launch of the service in 2010. The new pricing reflects the current market conditions while enabling us to continue providing exceptional value to our members.”

Sony are yet to say anything with regards to a price increase for gamers in the UK or Europe, although the UK did see the price of a PlayStation Plus subscription increase last year.
