Gamescom PUBG Invitational – Preview

The Competition

The first ever Gamescom PUBG Invitational LAN Tournament takes place on Wednesday 23rd until Saturday 26th August at Gamescom 2017 in Cologne, Germany. 80 of the most popular PUBG streamers, pros and influencers will all compete for their share of the $350,000 prize money. The tournament marks the first time PUBG developers Bluehole Inc. have worked with ESL, the worlds largest eSports network.

From very early on we knew that the success of PUBG was reliant on the passion of its community. We want to celebrate this by inviting eighty of the top players from around the world to compete in the first offline invitational,said Chang Han Kim, Executive Producer at Bluehole Inc. 

The Gamescom PUBG Invitational will include matches of Solo mode, Duo mode, Duo FPP (first-person perspective) & Squad mode. The individual/team with the best overall score from 3 games will be crowned the champion, and in addition, given a bunch of cash!

The Schedule

Wednesday 23rd August:

  • Community Qualifier for Duo TPP event: 09:00am – 13:40pm (GMT)
  • Solo Invitational Event ($46,000 Prize): 14:00pm – 18:00pm

Thursday 24th August:

  • Community Qualifier for Duo FPP event: 09:00am – 13:40pm
  • Duo TPP Invitational Event ($62,000 Prize): 14:00pm – 18:00pm

Friday 25th August:

  • Community Games: 09:00am – 13:40pm
  • Duo FPP Invitational Event ($62,000 Prize): 14:00pm – 18:00pm

Saturday 26th August:

  • Community Games: 09:00am – 13:40pm
  • Squad Invitational Main Event ($180,000 Prize): 14:00pm – 18:00pm

The Competitors

With a prize pool of around $350,000 on offer, it was no suprise to see the sharks of the eSports world entering teams in the Invitational. Professional teams such as Team Liquid, Team SoloMid, Cloud9 and others have all assembled their own teams, packed with some of the best PUBG players on the planet.

As well as the death-squads assembled by the pro teams, the PUBG Invitational will also include some of the most prominent content creators & streamers in the business. Popular streamers StoneMountain64, 5tat & Tyler ‘Ninja’ Belvins all line up in what promises to be the best eSports action of the week!

The Tournament will be streamed live on Twitch, Facebook & YouTube, and will be streamed by the individual players themselves.
