Mafia III Reveal Trailer At Gamescom

Mafia II was one of the last generation’s underrated games, generally receiving good reviews, but it seemed to be overshadowed by games like Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead Redemption being released.

The game was officially announced last week, where we were informed the reveal trailer would feature at gamescom. Finally 2K Games have pulled through on their promises, giving us our first glimpses at it, and wow.

The setting jumps forward to 1968 New Orleans, where the story is to be based around a new protagonist. Lincoln Clay, a soldier who fought in Vietnam, where he learned, “family isn’t who you’re born with, it’s who you die for.”

1960’s in the New Orleans was full of racial inequality, the Vietnam War was a main focus of America and the economic growth of New Orleans was far behind other major American cities. The story tackling the Vietnam War and Racism, means this could be one intense adventure.

This latest instalment may not be a direct sequel; however, alongside Lincoln is Vito Scaletta, Mafia II’s main protagonist, so we may learn what happened to him after the event of Mafia II.

This is a chilling trailer, full of suspense and tension, looking like it could be straight out of a gangster film. A man tied up being driven to the outskirts of town, being told a story of why he shouldn’t have done wrong to Lincoln and his inevitable death.

Two classic songs from Jimi Hendrix are used in the trailer, so it looks promising for another amazing soundtrack, making driving around as a gangster even cooler.

Mafia III will be released next year on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
