Sea of Thieves Closed Beta Has Been Extended

It’s safe to say that Sea of Thieves has impressed a lot of gamers during its short time in closed beta so far. Therefore fans of the game will be pleased to hear that developer Rare has announced that they will be extending the Sea of Thieves closed beta by two days.

The closed beta started on Wednesday January 24 and had been due to end on January 29 however due to some technical issues that saw some people unable to access the closed beta despite pre-ordering the game, Rare decided that an extension was in order. That means that the closed beta will now conclude Wednesday January 31 at 8am GMT. Rare also added that the Design an Achievement Contest has also been extended.

In a post on their website, Rare said, “We know your gaming hours are precious and our number one goal is to get everyone with Closed Beta access into the game as soon as possible. Whilst we work on making this happen, we’d like to announce that we’re extending the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta by two days.”

“We want to ensure that anyone who has missed out on any time sailing the seas still gets to enjoy the Closed Beta to its fullest.”

A number of gamers who had pre-ordered the digital version of Sea of Thieves were receiving a message stating that they were ‘too early’ when they tried to access the closed beta, despite it already being opened up. As expected, this left some people frustrated and with less time to enjoy the closed beta. Thankfully, Rare were quick to respond and have already released an update to fix the issue, although they state that it may take a bit more time to ensure that the issue is resolved for everyone.

Sea of Thieves is set to release on Xbox One and Windows 10 on March 20.
