Bethesda’s E3 Conference Round-Up

Another year and another great conference from Bethesda at this year’s E3. So without further ado, let’s have a round-up of everything that was covered.

The show opened with a look at Quake Champions, but not before teasing us with a new Wolfenstein for a brief second, the latest entry to the Quake franchise. It will be a multiplayer focused arena shooter. It’s been twenty years since the last Quake game, and it’s still being played in competitive tournaments. Bethesda said they will be supporting Quake Tournaments and we will have to wait for the August announcement for more information. You can take a look at the trailer down below.

Like the original, the new Doom has been a big success. Next month three new DLCS will be released with new maps, weapons and more. Also starting last night, or just a few hours ago, the Doom demo will be available for free on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but the offer is only good for this week for those who want to try the game out. Doom is getting the Unto the Evil DLC  and SnapMap free updates are coming soon.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends has a story trailer and new updates on the beta. Initial feedback appears positive and more invites are being sent out this week. The collectible card game will take place in the Elder Scrolls universe with a single-player campaign – as you see through the eyes of an unforgotten hero who changed the course of history-, multiplayer, and all the cards you can grab. You can take a look at the single-player campaign down below.

The next and final three Fallout 4 add-ons got a reveal. First is the Contraptions pack. Adding on the base building, it features an array of machines and contraptions to further the complexity of settlements. The Vault-Tec expansions gives the dream of building and running your own vault, right down to the experimenting on vault dwellers in true Fallout fashion. Finally, Nuka World, the story based DLC will add a new region where the Nuka World theme park from the world of old is inhabited by raiders.

Fallout Shelter had hit a milestone with 50 million players and is coming to PC next month. There was also a “really big update” and the brief trailer showed off many of the components of the update: There will be new locations to visit, enemies to defeat, and new characters to add to your Vault. You’ll also be able to send dwellers out on quests, and an “all-new” combat system. No details were shared regarding what’s been changed about the combat.

Skyrim is coming to the latest generation of consoles and will feature new shaders, better looking textures, and the swarm of DLC from the game. The latest main Elder Scrolls title will also welcome mods on consoles – much like the Xbox One is experiencing now in Fallout 4. But don’t worry, PC gamers, PC owners who have the game and all its add-ons will get this upgraded version as a gift from the studio for their loyalty.

In what appears to be a reboot on the original, Prey‘s sequel has been revealed from Dishonored developer Arkane Studios. The trailer offers an idea of the effects of sanity and health on Morgan Yu with a space job. You can check out the official trailer down below.

In a post-press conference interview with GameSpot, director Raphael Colantonio revealed more details about Prey.

He said that it is not a sequel or a remake; instead, it’s “a reimagining of the IP.” He confirmed that the game won’t be mission-based like Dishonored and will instead be one large area in which you can revisit areas and explore. Lastly, he revealed that you’ll be able to play as either a male or female character. The original story follows.

The best-selling MMOG selling seven million since its launch, The Elder Scrolls Online is entering a new chapter in its life with One Tamriel. A progressive MMO initiative, it’ll remove the bars of levels on content, allowing players to go where they want and quest where they want in true Elder Scrolls fashion. This opens the doors for players with vast level disparity to join up and quest together. Also announced was the console release date for the latest DLC – The Dark Brotherhood. It’s already available on PC, but it’s headed to PS4 and Xbox One on Tuesday, June 14th. The Elder Scrolls Online will also make its way to Japan on June 23rd.

Fallout 4 will be coming to the HTC Vive next year. That’s not the only game heading to virtual reality or VR, for short, though, Doom has also been revealed to be in development. These choices of games for VR conversion are certainly interesting. If successfully ported, Fallout 4 will reach levels of immersion unseen before.

However, as of now, it’s unclear if plans for these Bethesda games will make it to other VR headsets like PlayStation VR or Oculus Rift. For those at the E3 event, they got to try out Doom and Fallout 4 in VR.

Lastly to finish the first half of the show, or to end the stream for those of us who watched, Dishonored 2 had a gameplay trailer to satisfy those of us who have been waiting since last year’s announcement. Developer Arkane also created new technology, the Void Engine, which is unique to this game to further push the verticality of the environments and painterly look of the game to new heights. The sequel to the stealth-action game has more stealth and more action. Players will get the choice of Emily, a character from the first game, or Corvo, the protagonist from before, as playable characters. Both have their own power sets and abilities.

For the first time, Bethesda and developers showcased extended in-game footage as Harvey Smith, Arkane’s co-creative director, talked through the game at Bethesda’s pre-E3 press conference. You can check out the official trailer down below.

Dishonored 2 is set to release November 11th, 2016 and a collectors edition – or premium collectors edition has been revealed priced at $100 and will include
