Stellaris Breaks Paradox Interactive Records for Day One Revenue

Paradox Interactive’s latest strategy game, Stellaris, has broken the company’s record for day one revenue despite selling less copies than Cities: Skylines.

Stellaris managed to sell over 200,000 copies within the first 24 hours of being available with sales falling just short of city builder Cities: Skylines, which managed to shift 250,000 copies within its first 24 hours. However, as Stellaris is currently selling for £34.99, it has generated more revenue for Paradox Interactive on day one than any other game the publisher has previously released.

That’s not the only record Stellaris broke though, as it has also stolen the crown of having the most concurrent players of any previous Paradox game. Concurrent players of Stellaris peaked at 68,000 on day one.

“We are immensely proud of the Paradox team for putting together such a stellar release,” said Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester.

“This release is the result of hard work and dedication from the entire company and in particular Paradox Development Studio. The incredible reception by players, indicated for instance by the Steam user reviews, is all the proof we could ask for that our hard work paid off. Our fans have put their faith in us and Stellaris will be a part of Paradox’s onwards journey for a long time to come.”

Next up for Paradox is, of course, Hearts of Iron IV! Will that break more records for the Swedish company?
