Cross-Platform Cloud Saves Added to Civilization 6 for PC and Nintendo Switch

Fans of Civilization 6 are getting a brand new way to experience the popular turn-based strategy game as 2K Games has added cross-platform cloud saves to the game.

2K announced the news on Twitter, and as expected, fans of the franchise were excited at the prospect of being able to continue playing their save on the move or, for some, in bed.

The cross-platform cloud saves are available for PC and Nintendo Switch gamers, meaning that you’ll now be able to play your Steam save on your Nintendo Switch and vice versa. Players will be able to jump instantly onto their other device and pick up right where they left off.

In order to enable cross-platform cloud saves, all players need to do is simply link their 2K account to each device by selecting the “multi-platform cloud save” feature in the in-game options.

At this moment in time, however, only vanilla saves are compatible with the cross-platform cloud saves. That’s because previous expansions for Civilization 6 have not yet been released on the Nintendo Switch version of the game, meaning it would be impossible to carry on your Gathering Storms save from Steam on the Switch, for example.

Thankfully, developer Aspyr, who handled the Nintendo Switch port of Civilization 6, suggested back in February that both the Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm expansions were planned to release on the Switch at some point.
