Red Dead Online Gets New Spoils of War Mode

Rockstar Games has released another update for its multiplayer mode Red Dead Online, which includes a brand new game mode as well as adding special time-limited clothing for players to obtain.

Expanding upon its Showdown series, Rockstar has released a new game mode titled Spoils of War, which puts up to 16 players into different teams and challenges them with defending their stockpiles while trying to steal from the other team’s own stockpile before returning them back to their own base. The team who has the most steals at the end of the match wins.

The game mode is described as being a “frontier take on capture-style multiplayer”, so it should be familiar to anyone who enjoys modes such as capture the flag. Some of the locations where the mode will play out include Fort Mercer and Valentine.

To encourage players to jump back into the game, anyone who plays Showdown modes including Spoils of War will also receive a 20% XP boost, with winners of the match receiving an additional 8x Dynamite Arrows as a bonus.

That’s not all that’s included in this recent update though, with new clothing being added to the game. However, Rockstar states that these clothes are only available ‘for a limited time’. The new pieces of clothing you can acquire include:

  • The Tasman Outfit (Male only)
  • The Danube Outfit (Female only)
  • Tied Pants
  • Hitched Skirt (Female only)
  • Winter Shotgun Coat
  • Gardenia Hat
  • Squat Stovepipe Top Hat
