PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has sold over seven million copies, according to Steam data tracker SteamSpy. It was only two weeks ago that it was announced that PUBG had sold six million copies.
Since launching on Steam in March, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been a huge success for developer Bluehole. The game currently costs $30 and with 7 million sales, assuming they are all made through Steam at that price, that’s an impressive $210 million in revenue. Valve take a 30% cut for sales made through Steam, but that would still leave PlayerUnknown with an impressive $147 million. Not bad for someone who started out as a modder for ARMA, is it?
In addition to selling seven million copies, PUBG also broke its record for most concurrent players at any one time recently. The game reached a peak of 620,612 players, making it the second most popular game on Steam behind Dota 2 which has just over 780,000 concurrent players. It is by far the most popular third-party game on Steam though, with H1Z1 lagging behind in second place by over half a million concurrent players.
