Horizon Zero Dawn Has Sold 3 Million Physical Copies

Horizon Zero Dawn has been one of 2017’s biggest games so far having launched to positive reviews from both critics and players alike, and as a result of its popularity, Horizon Zero Dawn has now surpassed three million physical units sold at retailers, VGChartz has announced.

For the week ending June 10th (yes, there’s a delay in reporting these figures), the game shifted 92,669 units, bringing lifetime physical sales to 3,058,953 units.

Out of that figure, 1,577,471 units were sold to Europe (52%), with just 24% being shifted in the US with 748,140 units being sold at retailers. Sales in Japan account for 216,943 units (7%).

If you break down European sales further, the UK leads the way with 306,941 units whilst Germany and France come in at second and third place with 275,495 and 223,424 units sold respectively.

According to VGChartz, Horizon Zero Dawn sold 2.2 million units at retail stores within the first two weeks of launch. They note that Sony put sales for the game at 2.6 million for the first two weeks, meaning that 400,00 copies must have been digital sales. Therefore, they suggest that total sales for the game currently sit at around 3.52 million units sold with 458,000 of those being digital sales.

When our own Alec Hawley played Horizon Zero Dawn at launch, he was left very impressed by the game. You can read his review here to see why he felt that it deserved the much coveted 10/10 rating.

Horizon Zero Dawn released on Sony’s PlayStation 4 back in February in North America and March in Europe and Japan.
