Grand Theft Auto V UK sales surpass 5 Million

Sales of Grand Theft Auto V in the UK have surpassed 5 million units, according to latest figures released by Gfk Chart-Track. Grand Theft Auto V had shipped over 45 million units worldwide as of February 2015, with 10 million of those accounting for its next-gen release on Xbox One and PS4.

Grand Theft Auto V was released back in September 2013 and had sold nearly 3 million copies in the UK within its first month of release. This latest sale figure however is only for physical copies so it is unlikely that the PC release of GTA V will have contributed greatly to this latest milestone.

It is unclear how many digital copies of Rockstar’s open-world game have been sold to gamers in the UK, with that 5 million mark expected to be a lot higher if digital sales are taken into account.

That means that around 8% of the UK’s population own Grand Theft Auto V on one platform or another.
