Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s Multiplayer can now be purchased separately on PC

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s multiplayer mode can now be purchased separately on PC via Steam for a limited time only, Activison has announced.

The Black Ops 3 Multiplayer Starter Pack is available for £11.59 and will grant players access to the multiplayer mode of the game only, meaning that for those who aren’t interested in the campaign or zombies, they can now purchase just the multiplayer at a reduced price.

However, while the starter pack grants players access to all the maps and the ability to play in ranked multiplayer matches, you won’t be able to Prestige or play in custom games. In addition to that, the Campaign and Zombies are off-limits. If you wish to play the campaign or zombies, you will need to purchase the full version of Black Ops 3, although if you have purchased the Starter Pack, the amount paid will be deducted from the price of the full version. All progress made will carry over to the full version though should you upgrade.

It’s an interesting experiment that’s for sure by Activision to sell the multiplayer part of the game, which is arguable the most popular, separately. Depending on how well received and successful it is, there is always the possibility that future releases of Call of Duty may be broken up in a similar manner, allowing gamers to choose what section of the game they wish to purchase. Since the Campaign in Call of Duty isn’t what it once was, this multiplayer offer may tempt some players back to the series just for the online play.

The Multiplayer Starter Pack is available for a limited time only though with the offer ending on February 29th.
