Lionhead Studios Thanks Fans for their Support During “Tough Week”

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced that they would be closing down Lionhead Studios and therefore cancelling Fable Legends in the process. The development studio has now spoken to the public for the first time since the announcement and has thanked fans for their support in what they describe as being a “tough week”.

Lionhead Studios are famous for creating the hugely popular Fable series with their first game in the franchise releasing in 2004. The Guildford based studio was then acquired by Microsoft in 2006 and went on to release five other games in the Fable universe with their last game coming in 2014.

Fable Legends was set to be their next game and was due to release on Xbox One and PC. The game had been delayed until 2016 to allow Lionhead Studios to polish the game, however time has now been called on the project by Microsoft.

In addition to announcing the cancellation of Fable Legends and the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios, Microsoft also shut down developer Press Play who were behind Max: The Curse of the Brotherhood.
